Microinnova Engineering GmbH and Novo Nordisk in the PHARMECO Project
We’re proud to celebrate the impactful role of the Microinnova Engineering (MI) and Novo Nordisk (NOVO) in the PHARMECO initiative—an ambitious Horizon Europe project advancing Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) practices in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Together as a key academic and industry partners, MI and NOVO bring deep scientific expertise and innovation to the table, particularly in:
🏭 Join pilot lines to test sustainable technologies at scale
🔄 Develop & scale continuous processes using flow chemistry
⚙️ Provide turnkey continuous pilot & small-scale production
Their contributions are central to Work Package 6, which focuses on the validation of upscaled/pilot SSbD-driven pharmaceutical manufacturing processes regarding sustainability, operational compatibility, and regulatory compliance
In addition, NOVO will strongly contribute to Work Package 3, which is focuses on the development of sustainable, scalable methods for synthesizing APIs and intermediates, focusing on green chemistry to reduce waste, hazardous substances, and environmental impact.
