Radboud University and Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine in the PHARMECO Project

We’re proud to celebrate the impactful role of the Radboud University (SRU) and Johnson & Johnson (JnJ) in the PHARMECO initiative—an ambitious Horizon Europe project advancing Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) practices in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Together as a key academic and industry partners, SRU and JnJ bring deep scientific expertise and innovation to the table, particularly in:
🌱Assess sustainability in pharma route design.
⚗️Evaluate innovative synthesis/production tech.
🧩Adapt SSbD framework for pharma sector
🌍Include API/intermediate fate & exposure in assessments.
Their contributions are central to Work Package 7, which focuses on the sustainability evaluation of innovative (bio)manufacturing and decontamination technologies and pharmaceuticals, from a cradle-to-gate and eventually an end-to-end perspective via integrated assessment by tailoring the SSbD framework to pharma.
👏 A huge thank you to the SRU and JnJ teams for their dedication to building a more sustainable pharmaceutical future!
